weekend extravaganza

Why are the weekends so short and the weeks so long?

We decided to go out on Friday and went to the newly opened Skye Bar on the roof top of a 16 floor building with amazing view over the city and super expensive drinks. On Saturday Abby and me went shopping (again) and then it was time to put the party outfit on once again and head to the next place. This time a five star hotel with swimming pool in the middle where a couple of unfortunate people ending up towards the end of the night.

Abby and me at Skye Bar, Saturday party place, Carlos by the pool and Carlos & Abby on Friday night.

Was supposed to go listen to a speach by Dalai Lama in a park together with the Germans today but since we all were super hung over we stayed in Abby and Viren’s bed all day watching movies on the projector, eating pizza and then went to the movie theater for another movie :) Laaazy times. When we got back Daniela was waiting outside ready to move in to my room so now we’re six people and two dogs sharing the flat.

Time to go to bed even though I barely left it today.

complainment no. 1

It’s finally weekend again. Daniela came over after work yesterday and we decided that she should move into my room tomorrow so now I have a roomie. We’ll see how that turns out, hopefully great.

Yesterday we all had a minor break down regarding some food issues we’ve had in the apartment. Abby had thirty eggs and chocolate missing, my cheese, milk and yoghurt was gone and all of Carlos’ veggies which is quite annoying when you come home longing for yoghurt and your part of the fridge is empty.. So, now Carlos and me moved into our own fridge and hopefully our food will from now on stay where it is supposed to be. I’ll post a picture of our kitchen later. It’s chaos. I don’t understand how so few people can make such a big mess in such a short time when we have a maid that cleans the house every day.

I’m lovin’ it

I love broccoli. It  must be the best vegetable in the world, just wanted to make that clear. (dinner: 500 grams of fried broccoli with onions, garlic and lemon juice :p ) Uhm.

I also love this city. Don’t think I could have ended up in a better place for my internship and I never want it to end. I woke up slightly hung over on Sunday and went to meet some Germans at Lalbagh, the botanical garden for a special flower fair. Turned out we were not the only ones having had that thought and after being pushed around by hundreds of crazy Indians just to see some half crappy flower arrangements we got fed up and sat down in the park for chai (masala tea) instead. Spent the afternoon eating Mexican food and going on a shopping spree with Daniela, one of the Germans, and found two salwar kameez – the local outfit that Indian women wear until they get married and have to wear a saree – that I’ll wear when I do field trips with work.

On Monday all of us in the flat agreed on making Mondays to take out/movie nights and ordered loads of Chinese food and watched The American on Virens’ projector. (don’t watch it, it was really bad)

Yesterday was the Indian Republic Day and everyone was free from work and I spent all day walking around the markets going crazy to come home and being told I had to come to a house warming party. Jalla jalla. It turned out to be quite a good idea, open bar with a bartender that made awesome cocktails. And the result – one million mosquito bites. Mental note to self: Don’t wear shorts on balconies after dark.

At work I’m still not doing very much. A field trip here, making an interview with the worst translator ever there. But mostly, I’m just writing emails and looking for stuff to do in the weekends which is getting really boring. I need something proper to do or I will go nuts. Tomorrow the first group of domestic volunteers will arrive, my boss told me to wear a lot of sunscreen and I pray to God that he didn’t mean I’m supposed to help them build any houses by that statement cos if he did, I will go crazy for real.
